In the process of developing the traditional closed die forging process, closed die forging and split forging are added on the basis of flashless die forging (that is, closed die forging). The simple mold structure form. Compared with the traditional forging method, there are several special processes as follows.
(1) Squeeze.
Under the action of three-way uneven compressive stress, the billet is extruded from the cavity of the mold, so that the cross-sectional area is reduced, the length is increased, and the processing method of becoming a forging is called extrusion. It is mainly used for cold extrusion of various splines, warm extrusion of various valve bodies, hot extrusion of half shaft sleeves, etc.
(2) Occlusion forging.
Block forging is a die forging in which metal is extruded in one or two directions by one or two punches in a closed die to obtain a near-net-shape precision forging without flash. Block forging can realize flash-free forging, high material utilization rate, small equipment tonnage and high dimensional accuracy.
(3) Split forging technology.
The main principle of split forging is to establish a split cavity or channel of material in the forming part of the blank or mold. During the forging process, while the material fills the cavity, part of the material flows to the distribution cavity or distribution channel. The application of split forging technology has enabled the less-cut and no-cut machining of higher-precision gears to quickly reach an industrial scale, which is mainly used in the cold forging of spur gears and helical gears.
